The short answer
It depends on the firm and on the stage. Some firms let you hold freely in the evaluation but not on the funded account unless you bought a swing-type account or add-on. Others allow holding everywhere, but swap charges still count toward your daily loss. Check your own account type before Friday's close.
How three firms handle it
FTMO
- FTMO restricts holding positions through market breaks longer than 2 hours, and you must close open positions before the break begins. Breaking this may lead to termination of an FTMO Account or FTMO Instant Account.
- The restriction doesn't apply to Swing-type accounts or to accounts in the FTMO Challenge or Verification.

FundingPips
- Evaluation: overnight and weekend holding are allowed on 1 Step Flex, 2 Step Standard, 2 Step Flex and 2 Step Pro.
- Master (funded) account on those models: overnight and weekend holding aren't allowed unless you have the Swing add-on, which is bought at purchase. Open trades are closed by the system each day in a 15-minute window: 20:45–21:00 UTC in summer time (from the first Sunday of March) and 21:45–22:00 UTC in winter time (from the first Sunday of November).
- A system auto-close isn't a breach. A weekend gap that pushes an account past its max loss, on a model that allows holding, is a valid breach.
- FundingPips Zero Master: leaving any position open into the weekend ends the account.

FundedNext
- Overnight holding is allowed on all current account types, and weekend holding is allowed on Challenge and FundedNext accounts (Stellar 1-Step, Stellar 2-Step, Stellar Lite).
- Swap charges count toward the daily loss calculation. Triple swaps hit on Wednesday for forex and commodities, so a gold position held through Wednesday night is charged three days of swap.

What to check before you hold a trade into the weekend
- Your stage: is this the evaluation or the funded account? The rule can change between them.
- Your account type or add-ons: swing accounts and swing add-ons are usually what makes funded holding allowed.
- The exact close time in UTC, and whether it shifts with daylight saving.
- Swap: whether it counts toward daily loss, and which day is the triple-swap day for your symbol.
- Gap risk: if the market opens past your stop, the loss still counts.
